Completed 2009. Liverpool’s first dive training centre, this was built at Oakmere College. The pool is in an above-ground tank, and the facility includes classrooms (for theory lessons in diving and navigation) and a sales area for diving equipment.
Oakmere Community College assists disadvantaged young children into education employment and training and has a reputation as an organisation with innovative ideas and programmes aimed at the NEET focus group, operating from numerous sites across Merseyside.
Oakmere have formed a joint venture with Glaciere Sail Training to create a unique Dive Training Centre located in Walton at the centre of an extensive existing campus. Comtechsa were engaged to develop the design to fit into an existing industrial shed so we have utilised our technical and design skills to integrate improved thermal and environmental requirements.
The completed state of the art facilities include a specialist diving pool supported on a specially designed steel support structure pool, support spaces, management, circulation and education spaces. The resultant design integrates branding, signage, and colour, to create a unique and memorable identity for a very popular facility.
